The Nintendo Switch recently received one of its biggest games of the year, as Metroid Dread is now available, and is both a critical and commercial success. The Nintendo Switch technically faced the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S last holiday season, but ongoing console shortages for both systems meant that a lot of people weren't able to acquire a new console on launch day. Nintendo might not have a new Super Mario Bros. platformer or the long-awaited sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild this Christmas, but there are plenty of exciting games on the way. 2021 isn't over yet, and the Switch still has some major titles left, going into the holiday season. The Nintendo Switchhas had a big year, with games like Monster Hunter Rise, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, and New Pokémon Snap being big hits with fans and critics alike.
